Public Movement is a research and performance body that studies and creates public choreographies, covert rituals and forms of social order. The group explores the performance of politics and the choreography of social life.
Public Movement develops research through action, bringing historical and archival materials into scores and situations. Political structures are approached not only as subjects to be represented, but as systems to be entered, tested, and performed.
In her talk, artist and choreographer Dana Yahalomi (Fellow 2026) will speak about Public Movement’s meticulous research into identity, nationalism, art, and performances of citizenship, and about how systems of identification are constructed and performed. She will discuss the translation of research into action and the performative formats it generates.
Yahalomi will present As One. New Action for Frankfurt, developed during her 2025 DAAD fellowship, marking the 100th anniversary of the first International Workers’ Olympiad, held in Frankfurt in 1925.
The talk will then turn to her current research at the intersection of espionage and the art world, tracing moments where national agencies, artists and art institutions converge, in the blurry territory where the possibilities of the art of fictioning unfold.
