The state of the left is somewhat paradoxical. On the one hand, everyone decries the lack of debate, while on the other, hardly anyone is willing to take the risk of engaging with others. It is always the same experts sitting on the same panels, offering the same old opinions. But no one gets up to bang on the table and smash it to pieces.
Ayşegül and Valentin, the hosts of the Don’t Read Theory podcast, are bent on bringing the spirit of lively debate back to the Volksbühne. The desire for real encounters and dialogue should no longer be limited to just a few. We all have to go through this together. The aim is to create a shared space where we can overcome invisible mental walls and also learn to embrace a clueless moment. And what better way to do that than around a generously set table? So let’s be part of the gentrification process for a night out at the Roter Salon-turned-small-plates-restaurant – just what you’d expect in Berlin-Mitte, isn’t it?
